MUMBAI: A minor boy and a youngster have been arrested for allegedly abducting a two-and-a-half year old Nalasopara boy last week. The boy along with the abductor was traced down in Uttar Pradesh.
Pratik Chaurasia had gone missing from his Krushna Society building, Dhaniv Baug, Nalasopara (east) at around 9.30 am on April 25. His father, an auto rickshaw driver, launched a search but in vain.
He registered a kidnapping case with the Valiv police station in Vasai (east). No ransom call was made to the father.
Police investigations revealed that Pratik was abducted by a 16-year-old neighbour and handed over to a 20-year-old man living in the same locality. The abductor wanted to demand a ransom of a lakh from the boy's father. He had promised to share half the amount with the minor.
The police detained the minor who on questioning spilled the beans. The police traced the call details of the main accused and nabbed him from his village in UP. Pratik was handed over to his parents on Sunday.
