Post-adoption, a filmi story plays out at KCR's home

HYDERABAD: Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's `adopted' daughter Pratyusha is giving jitters to the officials of women and child welfare department. Barely a year after joining a private nursing college, the girl wants to stop her studies and marry .
When he adopted her, the CM had even said he would get her “married to a nice boy“ and that she can spend all festivals in his house.
The well-being of the girl is being monitored by the Hyderabad high court which took a suo motu case of her torture. The CM personally got involved in her welfare. Officials say they are “moving heaven and earth“ to convince 19-year-old Pratyusha, who was a victim of torture by her stepmother, to continue with her studies and marry only after she settles in life. Pratyusha reportedly informed them that she does not want to continue in the college hostel as it has poor facilities.
They also informed both the court and the chief minister's office (CMO) about her decision. The CMO reportedly asked the police department to enquire about antecedents of the boy she wishes to marry . “The boy , who she wants to marry , is from Allagadda village in Kurnool district and works in an automobile shop. His mother is a labourer. The boy also discontinued his studies. He visited her when she was in the hostel,“ an official told TOI.
Pratyusha was tortured for years by her stepmother Shyamala with the support from her father Ramesh. The girl was rescued last July .
Moved by her story , KCR with his wife and daughter went to the hospital and met with Pratyusha who was then undergoing treatment.It was at that juncture that the CM said that henceforth, Pratyusha would be like a member of his family .
