Gujarat celebrates foundation day, main function at Chhota Udepur

Gujarat is today celebrating its foundation day as Gujarat Gaurav Divas with various events all over the state and the main function in the central Gujarat district of Chhota Udepur where Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel inaugurated and dedicated several development works with an estimated cost of over Rs 28 crore.

‘Run for Gujarat’, a dedicated event for the occasion, was also organized at many places including Ahmedabad where it was flagged off by minister of state Pradipsinh Jadeja near riverfront off Ashram road.

In Rajkot, former team India cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, also participated in a similar run in racecourse road of the Saurashtra town. Such runs were also organized at several other places including Surat, Vadodara, Palanpur, Jamnagar etc.

Gujarat is celebrating its foundation day as Gujarat Gaurav Divas, a practice started by the then chief minister Narendra Modi during his tenure. It become a separate state along with Maharashtra following the bifurcation of the then Bombay province on May 1, 1960.

The state level function of the foundation day was organized in tribal dominant Chhota Udepur district of central Gujarat in which Chief Minister Mrs Anandiben Patel participated in a Van Vandhu Sammelan herself.

She laid foundation stone for new Civic Center & District Panchayat Office for easy access of services to citizens. Prior to Sammelan, she also dedicated Indoor Sports Complex & Nursing College that’ll benefit youth of tribal region

She also visited an exhibition and disbursed assistance to beneficiaries of different Gujarat Government initiatives.

Earlier On the occasion of Gujarat Gaurav Divas, addressing the tribal conference Mrs. Patel blamed congress squarely for the backwardness of the tribal populace.
