High court issues contempt notice to P P Pandey

He Allegedly Ignored Court Order In An ACB Case
High court issues contempt notice to P P Pandey
Ahmedabad: Gujarat high court has issued a contempt of court notice to interim DGP, P P Pandey, for allegedly failing to comply with the court's order. Pandey is also director, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The notice was issued to Pandey and ACB's investigating officer, A A Shaikh, after a petitioner complained to the court that the officers had failed to respond to his complaint within four weeks, as directed by the high court on February 23.
Petitioner Jignesh Patel had filed a complaint with the ACB on January 12, 2015, against office-bearers of Anand municipality accusing them of indulging in corrupt practices.
ACB began an inquiry and gathered sufficient details but an FIR was not registered. When Patel moved the high court seeking direction to the ACB to act on his complaint, the ACB submitted that its director, P P Pandey, was seized with the matter and that he needed further details to decide whether or not an FIR should be registered. The court ordered that Pandey should take a decision on whether or not to file an FIR and probe allegations further, within four weeks. tnn
