Rusell and Gayle on receiving end in IPL

Jamaicans Andre Russell and Chris Gayle came out on the losing end of results in the Indian Premier League on Saturday.

Russell who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders with fellow West Indians Sunil Narine and Jason Holder went down by 27 runs to the Delhi Daredevils, the team of another West Indian, Carlos Brathwaite.

In the battle of the West Indians, Brathwaite was the star of the show, as he smashed 34 from 11 balls as Delhi posted a competitive 186-6 from their 20 overs. Karun Nair top scored with 68.

Russell picked up 3-26 while Narine finished with 1-22 and Holder went wicket less from his four overs. In reply, the Knight Riders could only muster 159 all out. Russell contributed 17 as Robin Uthappa topscored with 72.

Holder was run out without scoring. World T20 hero Brathwaite finished with 3-47.

In the day's other game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, team of Chris Gayle, went down by 15 runs to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

RCB minus Gayle who is back in India since the birth of his child, watched as the Sunrisers piled up 194-5 from their 20 overs as David Warner smashed 92.

In reply, the Challengers limped to 179-6. The defeat leaves RCB second from bottom in the standings after six games.
