One-day drive to verify voters’ list

The district administration is organising a one-day campaign for voters'list verification on Sunday. New voters can get their ID cards made and old voters can get the mistakes in their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and the list rectified in the one-day campaign.

Gurgaon: The district administration is organising a one-day campaign for voters'list verification on Sunday. New voters can get their ID cards made and old voters can get the mistakes in their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and the list rectified in the one-day campaign. Booth-level officers (BLOs) will be available from 9 am to 5 pm for as part of the drive.
"Residents can check their particulars in the voters' list and EPIC.
Any mistake in name or address can be rectified by filling Form No 7 or 8 accordingly. First time voters who have attained the age of 18 on or before January 1, 2016, can get themselves registered as voters by filling Form No 6 at the nearest polling booth," said a district administration spokesperson.
Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash, who is also the district election officer, said various measures have been taken up by the district administration besides re-launching of ‘Voting Tau' to increase public awareness. The aim is to make the electoral rolls error free.
"During last election, ‘voting taus' (uncles) were seen encouraging people to vote. The initiative was undertaken by the authorities to ensure an increase in voter turn up in Gurgaon, which proved successful. Hence, Gurgaon trumped Delhi by a turnout of 68.7%, a remarkable increase of 18.7% from last election," he said.
