Noida: A one-and-a-half-year-old boy, walking with his mother and elder brother, fell into a swimming pool in Supertech Eco Village I in Greater Noida West on Friday night. The toddler was immediately taken out and rushed to a private hospital in Sector 50 where he was declared out of danger.
The family, however, blamed the developer for the incident as there was no fencing or security personnel near the pool which was under maintenance.
The Supertech officials, however, said the mother should have taken care of her child and they had nothing to do with it.
Amit Kumar, an engineer with an MNC, said that his son slipped into the swimming pool at around 8:30 pm. The family lives in a fourth floor flat in Eco Village. "There was some maintenance work in the swimming pool and it was not in use. My wife and two sons were walking back home from the local park. My elder son, aged four, was walking with his mother but the younger one, Abhas, was left behind. Abhas wandered over to the club and slipped into the swimming pool," he said.
When the mother realised that the child was missing, she immediately ran back and raised an alarm. Kumar said that a woman at the nearby first floor apartment had seen a splash in the swimming pool. "She immediately came down and jumped into the pool and rescued Abhas who was unconscious," he told TOI. Abhas was immediately rushed to Neo Hospital, Sector 50 where doctors administered medicines and he regained consciousness. He was later discharged from the hospital.
Supertech officials refuted allegations by the parents saying all safety measures had been observed at the pool. "It is the responsibility of the parents to take care of their children. It is not logical to leave a one-and-a-half-year-old alone. We have no role in this incident," said R K Arora, chairman, Supertech.
