The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, for the first time, confirmed a heat wave condition in the state.The confirmation came after observing the temperatures for two days till Saturday morning.

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has, for the first time, confirmed a heat wave condition in the state. The confirmation came after observing the temperatures for two days till Saturday morning.
The department has also warned that the condition will prevail in isolated places till Sunday morning. People, especially those in Palakkad and Kozhikode, have been advised to take necessary precautions while going out between 11am and 3pm.
IMD Thiruvananthapuram director K Santhosh said the condition was confirmed after finding that the temperature recorded was above 40 degree Celsius in Palakkad and above 37 degree Celsius in Kozhikode for two consecutive days.
The state witnessed isolated rainfall on Saturday.
