What's trending in the NFL: Connor Cook goes to Oakland Raiders

Taking a spin around the NFL with the latest news and notes from Saturday:

Today's top pick

More high-profile quarterbacks went off the board on Day 3 of the draft.

The Raiders traded up for the 100th pick (fourth round) and selected Michigan State's Connor Cook, whose leadership skills were questioned during the pre-draft process.

"I don't think you can win that many games and be that successful at a program without being a leader," Cook told reporters. "I think all that stuff was so far from the truth."

The Cowboys, meanwhile, selected Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott in the fourth round (), and the Bills went with Ohio State's Cardale Jones.

What's happening

Fifteen quarterbacks were taken in the draft, but only one (Jared Goff) will start in Week 1, writes Kevin Seifert. He's got 10 takeaways from the past three days.

The Ravens were prepared to take Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil with the No. 6 pick, but they changed course after the gas mask video surfaced, league sources told Adam Schefter. The Ravens instead went with Notre Dame tackle Ronnie Stanley. It will be fascinating to see how those two players stack up to one another going forward.

Colts owner Jim Irsay said extension talks with Andrew Luck are progressing well, but "it's a complicated contract." Mike Wells has details.

Closing number: 12

That's the number of players drafted out of Ohio State this year, according to ESPN Stats & Information. That's the highest number from a single school in NFL history. Back in 2004, 14 Buckeyes were selected.
