Kerala Assembly Elections: Oommen Chandy, Pinarayi Vijayan, VS Achuthanandan cleared

Complaints filed against rivals were rejected after scrutiny of nomination papers.

Thiruvananthapuram: Nomination papers of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan, CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan and other top leaders were found proper after the scrutiny on Saturday.
LDF has filed a complaint against the nomination Mr Chandy filed in Puthupally alleging that he had not given details of his ancestral properties in the affidavit.

They also submitted a copy of the RTI document showing that he owned 51 cents of land as family property along with the complaint. The Congress party also filed a complaint against Mr Achuthanandan claiming that the details of the land purchased in his name when he was in charge of Deshabhimani and Chintha were not included in the affidavit.

Both the complaints were rejected. Both the LDF and UDF submitted a complaint against P. C. George that there were anomalies in the details of his assets.
BJP lodged a complaint against K. Muraleedharan of the Congress (Vattiyoorkavu) saying he had not mentioned the loan he took from
Janapriya Communications Limited in his affidavit.

However, the complaint was rejected as it was not substantiated with any documents. Complaints were submitted regarding the education qualification of Congress candidate in Thalassery, A.P. Abdullakutty, Congress candidate in Mananthavady, P. K. Jayalakshmi and Kerala Congress (B) candidate in Pathanapuram K. B. Ganesh Kumar.

The report of the sub-collector regarding the complaint against Ms Jayalakshmi was forwarded to the central election commission. The returning officer sought an explanation from Mr Abdullakutty on why he did not submit the copies of certificates of education qualification along with the affidavit.

However, nomination papers of all these candidates were accepted by the returning officers. The complaint against the Congress candidate in Adoor K. K. Shaju that he had submitted a false caste certificate was also rejected.
