Follow rules while printing poll material: Collector

Action to be taken against those who defy EC guidelines

May 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

District Collector Biju Prabhakar, who is also the District Electoral Officer, has asked those printing election posters and pamphlets to follow the guidelines put forward by the Election Commission (EC).

The name and address of the printer and the details of the person or party for which the poll campaign material is being printed should be displayed on the front page of all the material. The person publishing the poll campaign material should submit to the printer a self-attested proof of his or her name and address and get two people to be witnesses.

Action will be taken against those who print the material without these attestations, under Section 127 A of the Representation of the People Act.

For campaign materials printed in the capital district, a copy of the attestation is to be handed over to the District Electoral Officer.

Those who do not follow these instructions could be penalised with a fine of Rs.2,000 or jail term of up to six months, or both, the District Collector said.
