The Parliamentary party leader of TRS, K. Keshava Rao, said with the State formation and various schemes chalked out to improve socio-economic conditions, it was time to reach out to people to ascertain their other requirements.
“What do you want next is the question. For that, we need to get back to the people again,” said the Rajya Sabha member, listing the schemes to improve irrigation, supply potable water to all households, providing education and housing. As part of restoring the social and cultural identity of the State, something that got lost in the 60 years prior to the formation of Telangana, he suggested reviving the literary gathering that was part of the milieu with government funding.
Mr. Rao was addressing the 25th annual award function of Yudhvir Foundation here on Saturday. He presented the award to Sanskrit scholar Vijayveer Vidyalankar. The Foundation was set up in 1991 to commemorate the life and work of founder editor of Daily Hindi Milap Yudhvir.
The MP, speaking on ‘Reinventing Telangana’, recalled the agitation and sacrifices behind the formation of the State. “It is your government. Come up with ideas on how to reinvent and rebuild Telangana,” he told the gathering.
Dr. Vidyalankar’s works include an exposition of the Indian theory of aesthetics (Nava Rasas); preparation of the index of mantras in all the four Vedas, besides supervision of the translation of 12 Telugu books into Hindi.
In his acceptance speech, he highlighted the significance of Vedas.
