The time has come for AIADMK leader and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to take complete rest from hectic political activity, DMK MP Kanimozhi said here on Saturday.
Addressing voters in Thanjavur and soliciting support for her party candidate Anjugam Bhoopathy, Ms. Kanimozhi alleged that Ms. Jayalalithaa had disregard for the welfare of the people of the State as the AIADMK leader was unwilling to meet the people even during the election time.
“Ms. Jayalalithaa had scarcely ventured out to meet the public in the last five years,” she alleged.
Ms. Kanimozhi criticised the AIADMK leader’s promise to introduce gradual prohibition and urged the electorate not to take it seriously. The AIADMK was not caring for the welfare of farmers of whom many had taken their lives, she alleged.
Alleging that dredging of channels in the delta region was done only on paper, Ms. Kanimozhi said that in Thanjavur alone more than 350 water sources remain silted up and in the region many thousands more had shrunk because of improper dredging.
Ms. Jayalalithaa prefers relaxing and resting than meeting the people even during crucial times such as the Assembly elections. This is the time for the electorate to give her the chance to take complete rest from hectic political activity, Ms. Kanimozhi said.
