: A Delhi Police officer was allegedly beaten up by a group of local youth for trying to stop them from eve-teasing at Japanese Park, in Rohini, on Saturday.

“The men, five in all, were in a Honda City car and were misbehaving with women and girls at the parking area of the Japanese park. They were honking excessively, which was annoying the joggers. When the officer, also a regular visitor there, asked them to stop honking as it was creating a nuisance to morning walkers, they rejected it and instead got aggressive,” said a senior police officer.

They attacked the sub-inspector rank officer, and fled when locals started to gather. “On the basis of car registration number provided by the victim, the car was found to be of a man who resides in Timarpur area,” said the officer.

“We have registered a FIR. Police teams reached the house but no one was found there. The matter is under investigation,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjt Singh.
