: Officers of the Central Investigation Unit (CIU) of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Hyderabad, are continuing searches on the properties of East Godavari Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) A. Mohan.
Following the directions of ACB Director-General M. Malakondaiah, the CIU officials headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Ramadevi raided the house and the office of the Transport Department officer in Kakinada on April 28.
The DTC worked in Warangal, Nizamabad, Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana and in Vijayawada, Guntur, Ananthapur, East Godavari, Chittoor and other places in Andhra Pradesh. The officer allegedly amassed properties, worth some crores of rupees, the ACB sleuths said.
“The CIU found 40 acres of agriculture land in Prakasam, 9.2 acres in Nellore, eight plots at Kompalli, four plots near Madhapur, one flat each at Panjagutta and Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. Mr. Mohan owned four companies being run on benami names at different places,” said Ms. Ramadevi.
“The bank lockers of the DTC are yet to be opened. We are trying to find out his relatives’ and friends’ details and the searches are continuing. The value of the seized properties is in crores,” the DSP told The Hindu on Saturday.
‘Cover-up’ bid
The officer was using two mobile phones, of which one is a four-SIM phone. On seeing the ACB team at his house in Kakinada, Mohan threw his unofficial mobile phone into the bushes to hide his contacts, the ACB officials said.
“We recovered his mobile and are extracting his contacts with different persons. Officials also seized some electronic material from Mohan’s house as well as office which may give more details on his illegal operations,” the CIU head said.
