The Congress on Saturday demanded an investigation against Education Minister Vinod Tawde for allegedly possessing two PAN cards. Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam said, “It has come to our knowledge that Tawde holds two PAN cards. How did he get two PAN numbers?”
In a letters to the chief of Election Commission, Congress also demanded disqualification of Tawde for furnishing false information in his elections affidavit during the 2014 Assembly elections.

Nirupam said, “I have written a letter to the Election Commission to cancel the candidature of Education Minister Vinod Tawde for providing false education certificate. Tawde’s engineering (BE) degree is bogus. The college, Sant Dynaneshwar University, from where he sought the degree does not have government sanction.”
A senior BJP leader said, “Tawde has already explained he has not committed anything wrong. But the Congress is deliberately attacking him by picking some issues.”
Meanwhile, Nirupam said the development plan of the BMC is to facilitate the builders and it would open up 10,000 acres of no-development zone for development.
He said, if the BMC is interested in housing, they should avail the 2,000 hectares land which is in possession of the MHADA. Moreover, it can develop 2,500 hectares land for housing on which slums have cropped. The DP plan should benefit the common man and not builders, he added.
