The Sahayadris are bestowed with stone-cut caves that have intricate and miniature carvings covering the walls. The mysterious Ajanta and Ellora caves in Aurangabad were a chance discovery by a British official while he was out hunting.
The caves are now being restored to safeguard the paintings and artwork etched on them. The Ajanta caves are a trail of 30 odd caves with intriguing folklore. Most of them have revered deities and also antiqueware kept on display.
Hill stations
A quick getaway to hill stations from the scorching heat and the city’s maddening traffic seems to be an ideal option for most Mumbaikars. From Khandala, Matheran to Panchgani, these elevated locations are the best way to cool you off. This also is a great option for quick escape from the monotony of work. Mumbaikars usually drive down to these places to enjoy weekends and it’s also serves like a getaway.
