“Around 20 towers at Lotus Boulevard and Lotus Boulevard Espacia are incomplete. The builder took advance payment for the flats in 2010. But now the builder is not responding to our phone calls and e-mails. Their

staff claims that they do not have money. But they are launching new projects without completing the old ones,” said Sanjeev Arora, a flat owner at Lotus Boulevard.

A delegation of the homebuyers met chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday to complain against the builder.

“We have invested our life’s savings to buy a flat. The builder should be held responsible for delay in handing over possession and penalised,” said Jagdish Prasad, a flat owner at Lotus Boulevard.

Officials of Lotus Boulevard refused comment on the issue.

Commenting on the issue, the confederation of real estate developers association of India (Credai), said that they will call a meeting of all builders to address the problems related to delay in handover of flats to the buyers.

“We believe that the need of the hour is that developers whose projects are delayed should reach out to the homebuyers and open multiple channels of transparent communication, including regular project updates and helpdesk,” said Amit Modi, vice president, Credai, western UP.

Protest against Amrapali

Meanwhile, in a similar protest, around 200 homebuyers demonstrated outside the office of Amrapali’s in Sector 62.

Members of the homebuyers’ association of Amrapali Dream Valley, gathered outside the builder’s office and asked for handover of their flats at the earliest.

“We bought the flats six years ago in 2010. Many buyers have paid over 90% of the total cost but the builder has failed to give us the possession. They do not respond to our e-mails and phone calls,” said Sumit Jalota, a homebuyer.

The protest was withdrawn after the builder assured the buyers that they will be given flats in other projects that are in an advanced stage.

“The builder promised the buyers to shift them to societies where construction is at an advanced stage. We have postponed the protest for the time being,” said Abhishek Kumar, president, new era flat owners’ association (NEFOWA).

A spokesperson of Amrapali Group said, “We have made available contact numbers of the executives of each residential project. The executives will be available for the homebuyers every day. We are in talks with the homebuyers to solve their problems as soon as possible.”
