Five persons were killed and one injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a dumper in Siwan district early on Friday. The incident took place at a village near Chainpur police outpost when the victims, all residents of Jiradei in the district, were returning from a wedding, Siwan SP Saurabh Kumar said. The driver of the dumper fled after the accident and search is on for him, the SP said.
The mishap took place some 25km from Siwan.
Three killed in house collapse: Three workers were killed and six injured on Friday as an under-construction house collapsed at Sagi village in Begusarai district. The mishap took place when the pillar of an under-construction house caved in on some workers while they were laying a thatched roof, SDPO Mamata Kalyani said. While three workers, identified as Biso Paswan (40), Ramsagar Paswan (50) and Vinod Paswan (20), were buried alive under the rubble, six others, including the house owner Lalo Paswan sustained injuries.
Reservation to dalits: Addressing the Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti Samaroh at Samastipur College on Thursday, L N Mithila University vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Saket Kushwaha asked the government to make provisions for reservation to the backward classes and the dalits. He said, "The acceptance of the Constitution in its true spirit would be the right mode of paying our tributes to Dr Ambedkar." Teachers' association secretary Dr Prabhat Kumar welcomed the guests.
1 killed in mishap: One Vikas Kumar (16) was killed and four other persons seriously injured in a road mishap when a three-wheeler and a tractor collided with each other on Ramnagar-Narkatiganj Road near Taulaha village on Thursday. Vikas was a resident of Chhataraul village under the Bagaha police station area in West Champaran.
Judicial custody extended: The court of Nalanda ADJ II Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh on Friday extended the judicial custody of rape accused Nawada MLA Rajballabh Yadav and his five accomplices including four women till May 9 soon after they were produced in the court. On April 22, police had submitted a 400 page chargesheet against the MLA and his accomplices Radha Devi, Sulekha Devi, Tusi Devi, Choti Kuma under Sections 366A (procuration of a minor girl),370(buying or disposing of any person as slave),370A(exploitation of a trafficked person),376(rape),420(offences relating cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) of IPC. under prevention of children from sexual offence(POCSO) Act and under different section of Moral Trafficking Act in the court of ADJ 1 and special judge Rashmi Shikha, forty two days after Rajballabh Yadav Surrendered in the designated court on March 10 last.(procuration of a minor girl), 370(buying or disposing of any person as slave), 370A(exploitation of a trafficked person),376 (rape), 420(offences relating cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) of IPC. He was also chargesheeted under Prevention of Children From Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act and different sections of Immoral Trafficking Act in the court of ADJ 1 and special judge Rashmi Shikha, 42 days after Rajballabh surrendered in the designated court on March 10 last.
