The residents of Dukan Sangeen and Bohri Kadal here staged protests against the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department for allegedly failing to make ration available in their respective ration depot.The residents of the area assembled and the main road and blocked the road for the vehicular movement in the area. The protesting residents while chanting slogans against the CA&PD department were demanding ration.According to eye-witnesses, the Bohri Kadal residents blocked the road for several hours which resulted in massive traffic jam.Clashes erupted between residents and police when the police tried to disperse the protesters in the area.Police resorted to tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.Earlier, the residents told KNS that with the non-availability of ration in their concerned ration depot, they are facing immense hardships. “We have nothing eat and authorities are watching it as mute spectator,” the residents said.

They said that the CA&PD department has miserably failed to look into the hardships of the people. “The authorities have failed to make ration available in our area. They should make ration available soon,” the residents said.Meanwhile, the residents of Dukan Sangeen also staged protests against the CA&PD department for ‘not making the ration available in their ration depot’.Inhabitants said despite tall claims of the government that the ration would be made available in the ration depots but on ground it failed to fulfil their promises done with the people.They later appealed Minister and Director CA&PD to personally intervene into the matter and redress the genuine demands of people soon.The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
