Pimpri Chinchwad mayor to inaugurate national body building competition
PUNE: Pimpri Chinchwad mayor Shakuntala Dharade will inaugurate the 56th edition of the Bhiku Waghire mayor trophy national body building competition 2016-17 on May 1.
Speaking to reporters Dharade said, “The competition will be held at Dr Hedgewar sports complex, Masulkar colony by the civic body in association with Pimpri Chinchwad Amateur Body Building Association.
The competition has been approved by the Indian Body Building and Fitness Federation, Maharashtra".
Sameer Masulkar, chairman, sports committee said, “The highlight of this competition is that women will be participating in the body building competition for the first time in Pimpri Chinchwad. Uptill now the body building competitions have been held for men only.”
He further said, “Around 250 men and women will be participating in the competition. Around 110 prizes worth Rs 16.57 lakh will be given to the winners of the competition. These include prizes worth Rs 10.7 lakh in weight category. This category has 10 sub-categories wherein five prizes will be awarded to the top five winners. The first prize is of Rs 30,000; second prize is of Rs 25,000; third prize is of Rs 20,000; fourth prize is of Rs 15,000 and fifth of Rs 7,000.”
28 prizes totaling Rs 2.48 lakh in men's classic category will be awarded. 12 prizes totaling Rs 1.24 lakh will be awarded in women category. Champion of champion(overall men's body building) will receive Rs 1 lakh prize. Overall champion and men's physique overall champion will receive Rs 50,000 each as prizes. Best poser; most improved body builder and team championship will receive Rs 5,000 each as prizes.
