Western Command reach final in style

Continuing its dominance in the three-day Inter Command basketball championship for Army men, Western Command played like a well gelled unit to post a convincing 34-point (108-74) victory over South Western Command at the indoor stadium of GRC Kamptee on Wednesday.

NAGPUR: Continuing its dominance in the three-day Inter Command basketball championship for Army men, Western Command played like a well gelled unit to post a convincing 34-point (108-74) victory over South Western Command at the indoor stadium of GRC Kamptee on Wednesday.
With this dominating performance the experienced bunch of hoopsters from Western Command kept a clean slate by winning all their league round games and reach the final.

Earlier in an exciting game, Southern Command rallied splendidly to the get the better of their counterparts from Eastern Command 91-66. Having failed to cross the strong defensive line-up of Eastern Command in the first half the young men from the Southern side made their presence felt after the change of ends. After taking time to settle into their groove, Southern Command dominated the proceedings for a facile 25-point victory. The quarter-wise progress for the winners read 21-26, 17-19, 32-15, 21-6.
For Soutern Command, Nb Sub Subhiah emerged the top scorer with 21 points while NK Goverdhan fought a lone battle with 20 points for Eastern Command.
On Thursday morning, Southern Command will square up against Central Command in a virtual semifinal. The winner of this last league game will face the challenge of Western Command for the title in the evening session.
