Megastar Mammootty is on a mission to fight against the water issues faced by the people in Kerala. The actor announced his initiative "Own Your Water" during a recent press meet and also cited the same during the Flowers Television Awards that took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 29. 

As part of the drought relief initiative, volunteers and sponsors have installed a water tank in Mattanchery, where people were facing severe water scarcity. The mission was inaugurated by Vigilance SP Nishanthini on Friday. The team, headed by Mammootty, also has plans to install water kiosks in public places and shops in the coming days.

After the news hit the headlines, social media users have been praising the megastar for being a good Samaritan to hundreds who are facing serious issues due to water crisis. Celebrities, including Suraj Venjaramoodu and Aju Varghese, appreciated Mammootty for taking the initiative to solve one of the most important issues faced by the people in Kerala. Mammootty recently also met Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to seek the state government's support to help those suffering due to rising temperature and water crisis.

Meanwhile, on the acting career front, Mammootty is currently working in Johny Antony's "Thoppil Joppan," in which he will be seen playing the role of Kottayam achayan (a term used to address elder males belonging to the Saint Thomas Christians in Kerala). He has wrapped up the shooting of Uday Ananthan's "White" and Nithin Renji Panicker's "Kasaba," which are expected to hit screens soon.
