Bhopal: Taking after the Bollywood movie ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, a girl conned a 32-year-old in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district under the pretext of marriage and ran away with hefty amount of cash.
Feigning to be on periods, the girl alias Rajni Dubey prodded her husband, Sanjeev Agrawal, to let her sleep in another room along with her relatives, who were allegedly involved in the plan. Giving in to her demands, Sanjeev allowed her to shift to the other room. However, the next day he woke up to an empty house. Rajni, along with her relatives, had fled with gold worth Rs 3 lakh and Rs 25,000 cash.
Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Dolly ki Doli’ had a similar plot wherein she conned men into marrying her and robbed them.
Being mesmerized by Rajni’s looks and innocence, Sanjeev decided to tie the knot despite repeated warnings from his family. The wedding ceremony, which wasn’t a grand affair, had around 10 family members of Rajni and a few close friends of Sanjeev. Rajni apparently having lost her parents is looked after by her brother.
A complaint has been lodged with the police and the matter is being investigated. The girl might have conned other men as well, said the police. According to reports, similar incidents have taken place in several districts of Madhya Pradesh.
