The battle between Shilpa Shinde aka Angoori Bhabhi of "Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!" and the show's producer Binaifer Kohli has escalated to a new level. The actress has now filed a police complaint against industry bodies – Cine And Tv Artistes Association (CINTAA), Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) – at the Bangur Nagar Police station.
After seeking political intervention in the matter, Shilpa decided to take the legal route and has filed the complaint on charges of defamation, extortion and criminal conspiracy. She took the decision after all the governing bodies had jointly passed the "non-cooperation directive" against her, which prohibit broadcasters and producers from working with her until she apologises to the association and compensates Kohli for the losses incurred because of her.
Shilpa held a press conference on Thursday, where she accused the bodies of being unfair towards her during her battle. She also pointed out that CINTAA had been formed for the welfare of the actors, but has deviated from their main objective in her case. "They asked people not to work with me. They said I throw tantrums on the sets, but when have they seen me doing it? Whenever I have approached them to get any clarity, I have received zero response," Shilpa told the reporters, according to Tellychakkar.com.
Throwing some light on the plight of the actors on the sets, Shilpa blamed CINTAA for not keeping enough checks on the sets when producers mistreat the actors. "The kids are not given proper food and time to study on the Bhabhiji sets. This is inhuman. And even when I informed the bodies of the same, they never took any heed of it. I am ready to help every artist in their fight with these bodies," she added.
Meanwhile, when Sushant Singh, chairman of CINTAA, was approached by Tellychakkar.com, he said that the association will take strict action if Shilpa can submit proofs of her being tortured on the sets. "We have always worked in an unbiased way and will continue doing so. If Shilpa has been tortured and she can give us proofs of the same, we will surely take strict actions. But I really hope that it is not a fake blame game, or else we will have to look into it strictly," Singh said.
"If industry bodies have decided something, it is in compliance with the legal directives. I cannot comment anything any further as of now," JD Majethia from IFTPC said.
Dilip Pithwa, general secretary, FWICE, however, said that it's the producers who can file extortion case against Shilpa for trying to get a fee hike. "I know she held a press conference but on what basis did she file a police complaint? Extortion case against us? The producers can file extortion case against her as she tried to get more money by using arm twisting tactics. We have received a copy of the notice and will plan our future course of action," he added.
