Unnao kidnapping-murder case cracked, five arrested

The police on Friday claimed to have cracked the case of murder of the Unnao resident who was found dead in Malihabad earlier this week with the arrest of five persons, including the victim’s brother-in-law. Aurus resident Vinod Kumar was found hanging from a tree on Tuesday morning.

Lucknow: The police on Friday claimed to have cracked the case of murder of the Unnao resident who was found dead in Malihabad earlier this week with the arrest of five persons, including the victim’s brother-in-law. Aurus resident Vinod Kumar was found hanging from a tree on Tuesday morning.
SHO, Aurus police station was subsequently placed under suspension for laxity while in charge of surveillance cell of Unnao police too was shunted out.
A case of kidnapping was registered at Unnao police station after Vinod went missing.
In a tragic twist of fate, Vinod’s elder brother died in a road accident when he was out to negotiate with the abductors. The abductors then decided to kill Vinod. IG Lucknow zone A Satish Ganesh said five persons including Vinod’s brother-in-law Vijay and Chotu Pasi, Mehboob, Salman and Madhav have been arrested.
Vijay and Vinod together hatched the conspiracy to usurp Rs 50 lakh from the family as ransom, police said. The Kumar family was into trading of food and operated out of Delhi.
