Summer vacations are finally here, and guess what? Starting May 1, The Hindu In School will also bask in the holiday mood with special content and contests

Holidays are a great time to catch up with reading. You can learn new things, sharpen your general knowledge and polish your vocabulary. The Hindu InSchool has spruced up its content for the vacation. A wide selection of features — puzzles, games, quizzes and a bunch of creative writing initiatives — will be introduced. Pick up your copy of the Summer Special from May 1. Read, learn, enjoy and win prizes!

SUMMER READING CONTEST

Read In School and participate in our Summer Reading Contest. At the end of every week, over the next three months, mail us about something that has enlightened or fascinated you after reading the news/ articles featured in about 150 words. Do attach your picture because if we find your response print-worthy, you could get to see your write-up along with your picture in the publication the following week. What’s more? You will receive gift hampers!

SUPER SEVEN PHOTO PUZZLE

Every day, In School will feature fuzzy images of personalities under the column SUPER SEVEN PHOTO PUZZLE. Personalities featured from Sunday to Saturday every week will belong to the same sphere of work or have some element of commonality among them. Go through our issues, cut out the fuzzy photos and identify them in the space provided, arrange all the seven in a row, take a picture of the images with the answers and mail it to us.

JUMBO JIGSAW

Every day, The Hindu In School will publish one piece from a giant jigsaw. A template for the tiles (with numbers on the checks) will be published in our issue dated May 2. As the vacation progresses, cut out the pieces and keep sticking them to the template. At the end of the vacation, you will get a big picture! Send us a scanned image of your completed jigsaw and win attractive prizes.

WHIZDOM

A full page of general knowledge-related features with activities and quiz will be featured every day. The topics will range from News, Science and Environment to Literature and History/ Heritage.
