High land prices causing delay in acquisition: CM

Land prices have shot up so high in the state that not only industries but even the state government is finding it difficult to acquire land for various purposes, said chief minister Anandiben Patel while inaugurating the 2-day GCCI Summit & Expo 2016 at Mahatma Mandir here on Friday.

Ahmedabad: Land prices have shot up so high in the state that not only industries but even the state government is finding it difficult to acquire land for various purposes, said chief minister Anandiben Patel while inaugurating the 2-day GCCI Summit & Expo 2016 at Mahatma Mandir here on Friday.
The chief minister also said that issues related to land have led to so many discussions and debates among the people.
“Recently , when our officers went for demolition to clear road, a case in court was filed and demolition was stayed,“ added CM Patel.
Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry kick started the 2-day GCCI Summit and Expo with an aim to give the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Gujarat a much needed fillip in the form of a holistic support structure to battle business challenges and an economic slowdown.
In her address, CM said that soon Gujarat govern ment is going to start a separate MSME cell and an allocation has been already dedicated to the MSME as per this year's budget. She further added “Starting from May , every Monday for one hour various departments and stakeholders in my presence are going to discuss the in dustrial issues and identify the solution for the same“.As many as nine regional GCCI chamber heads and 185 chamber chapters' members were present at the summit.
Pankaj Patel, chairman and managing director of Zydus Cadila Group and senior VP of industry body FICCI said in his address, “Goods and service tax (GST) is going to be one of the most important reforms. It will initially pose a problem being a new tax but it will give us huge growth opportunities.“
'Vibrant Gujarat 2017 to be different'
The next edition of biennial investors' meetVibrant Gujarat 2017 will be different from its previous editions. During the GCCCI summit, CM Anandiben Patel said, "The next edition of Vibrant Gujarat will have to be different from what we have done till now. After the success of previous editions of Vibrant Gujarat, others (states) are also following the same model and holding such events. This time we will have to come up with something different. I have held two meetings in this regard with the officials."
