Two arrested for demanding bribe
Akola: Suresh Borse (56) deputy superintendent of land record at JalgaonJamodtehsil town in adjoining Buldhana district, was caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs1,000 in his office on Thursday, informed deputy SP, ACB, VR Patil.
The complainant had applied for measurement of agriculture field and also paid Rs6,000 as per rules for the work.
However, Borse allegedly demanded Rs1,000 from the complainant.
In another incident reported at Akola, Shivaji Naikwade, assistant conservator of forest, was arrested from his office for allegedly demanding bribe of Rs12,300 for issuing an NOC to cut the teakwood tree number 113 in Patur area of Akola district. He did not take the money as he got sniff of ACB action. However, he was arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence, sources in ACB Akola said.
Bogus cop robs man of Rs9,000
Akola: An impostor posing as crime branch personnel robbed Rs9,000 from Vithhal Ugle (27) of Washim district near Agrasen Square on station road on Thursday evening, informed Ramdaspeth police.
