Allendale, NJ—The portfolio of lenses for the Leica T camera system has a new addition: the Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 Asph lens. The fast prime lens has a classic focal length and Leica considers it to be “the reference lens in the APS-C segment.”

It is the first of two new prime lenses for the Leica T camera system that, as indicated by the TL in its name, is fully compatible with the bayonet mount of the Leica T and the L mount of the Leica SL camera system. The second TL lens, the Leica APO Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 Asph, will be available in autumn 2016.

The Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 Asph lens is engineered to deliver photos with the unmistakable “Leica look” and bokeh effects. Imaging performance is said to be assured throughout its aperture range and at all distances from its closest focusing distance to infinity. The lens is compact and, due to internal focusing, its length remains constant.

It’s constructed of 12 lenses in 8 groups, with four aspherical surfaces. And as is the case with all Leica lenses, the Leica Summilux-TL 35mm f/1.4 Asph was designed by Leica optical specialists in Wetzlar. It is available in a choice of black or silver versions. us.leica-camera.com
