Newlywed Jordan Peele: 'Marriage is the best thing in my life'

Comedian Jordan Peele attended the Los Angeles premiere for his film Keanu as a happily married man. He and Chelsea Peretti announced this week that they had wed.

That’s a thing that happened, and it’s the best thing in my life," Peele said on the red carpet about becoming a husband.

Standing next to his Keanu and Key & Peele co-star, Keegan-Michael Key, he quickly followed that with: "This (movie) is number two. It’s a really good number two." To which Peele said, "Perfect answer."

Newlyweds! Jordan Peele and Chelsea Peretti looked very happy together at the 'Keanu' premiere.

Peele and Peretti eloped, which was news to Peele's co-writer and director.

"What I heard is that it was just them and their dog, but they may have just told me that to explain why I wasn't invited," said Alex Rubens.

"They did it right. They just went off, got married, came back, 'Hey we’re married now,' said director Peter Atencio. "I love that. That’s how it should be: No fanfare, no craziness, no mother-in-law breathing down your neck. Just go do it."

Peele's filmmaking colleagues had different opinions on whether to send him wedding gifts.

"Absolutely not. They have to give me a gift, I think, as a sort of payment for not inviting me to their wedding," said Rubens. "I'm pretty sure that's how it works."

But Atencio was happy to be "reminded" to give a gift. "There was no wedding, so I feel like I have a year (to give a present). Isn’t that the rule? That’s the rule now," he said.
