Absentees, latecomers in DC's surprise check

Ludhiana: 54 officials were found absent and 12 latecomers were caught during a surprise check carried out by deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat and SDM's in district administrative complex (DAC) and sub divisional offices, respectively at 9 am on Friday. The deputy commissioner made it clear that negligence in duty and wastage of water and electricity would not be tolerated at any cost.
When the DC reached the DAC at 9 am, he directed all doors to be locked and took attendance registers into his possession.During his checking, five officials and eight officials of DC office were found absent and late respectively. Similarly, six officials from the SDM's office, two of deputy director local government, two of SDO (electricity branch), one of Suvidha Kendra, seven of DDPO and nine of Election Tehsildar were found absent.
Similarly nine officials from the SDM's office, Jagraon, five of SDM office, Raikot, two of SDM office Khanna, two of SDM office Payal and three of SDM office Samrala were found absent.
The DC also took strong notice of the fact that despite their absence, lights, fans and air conditioners in offices of some officials were switched on. He said that show cause notices have been issued to officials found absent or reporting late for duty. He said if these officials are again found absent or late, then strict action would be taken against them. He directed the officials to report for duty in time so that people don't feel harassed in government offices. DC, Ravi Bhagat was accompanied by ADC Ajay Sood, ADC Khanna JK Jain.
