It is common practice for actresses who have moved beyond the silver screen, to take on work in TV. But in the case of Deepika Das who has done a few regional movies and is still very much in the movie market — the actress has shifted her interests and joined the telly soap brigade!
The pretty girl is playing the protagonist of a seductive snake woman, ‘Nagini’, in a fantasy thriller title Naga Rani, which is airing on Zee Tamil. It is based on the Indian ancient belief of Ichchadhari, a female snake who transforms into a woman to take revenge on those who killed her parents and stole the valuable gem Nagamani.
“Anything about snakes lures Tamil audiences, especially the women. Accolades have been pouring in ever since I started working on this serial. More than my films, this has given me a big reach,” Deepika says.
