From making that momentum-altering clutch save to vying for that critical inch in front of the net during the game's waning seconds, NHL 17 is cross-checking its list of details to make sure gamers have the ultimate experience in shaping their hockey legacies.

After all, details make the game, and EA Sports doesn't want any puck unturned and aims to take gamers from behind the desk of the franchise's front office to every little nuance of the sport itself to deliver the best gameplay ever experienced by a hockey fan and thumb-tapper alike.

EA shows its audience just that with its new Vision trailer, which was uploaded earlier this week.

"Whether you compete online in a bid for glory, live out your ultimate hockey fantasy in offline single player modes or simply lace up and jump over the boards for exciting and innovative hockey gameplay — NHL 17 gives you the chance to shape your legacy on and off the ice," EA Sports writes in the description accompanying its new Vision trailer for the upcoming title.

Pretty impressive trailer, to say the least. The clip hones in on how EA used its vaunted motion-sensor technology to capture every facet of the game on ice. The video game developer wants your input, too, as it is encouraging fans to sign up to become an EA Sports NHL Insider.

The immersive fan experience also extends to choosing the cover of the upcoming game, which is slated for a fall release to coincide with the start of the 2016-17 NHL season.

Fans have until Monday, May 2 to complete their first round voting, which pits NHL players against each other, with gamers owning the power to name the cover subject of the title. Fans can vote on Twitter as many times as they desire by utilizing the hashtags listed here. Voting for the second-round matchups will be held from May 3 until May 9, and ballots can be cast for the third-round matchups from May 10 until May 16, before the winner is announced.

It's still early, but from the looks of things, EA is cooking up what seems to be one of the more exciting hockey games we've seen. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.
