Ford adds strobe light kit for F-150

April 29, 2016
OEM says the “no-drill” option for the F-150 strobe light kit comes with a limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles.

A factory-installed strobe warning light emitting diode (LED) kit is now being offered by Ford Motor Co. for its F-150 pickup truck line for fleet customers; a light kit designed with utility, road construction and municipal fleet crews.

Already available on 2016 F-Series Super Duty, the OEM said this LED strobe light kit will be offered as an option on all 2016 F-150 models with a fleet identification number.

Ford added that the front- and rear-mounted amber lens strobe lights can be seen from as far away as 1,000 feet during the day and a mile at night.

Forward-facing signals are high mounted at the rear edge of the hood for maximum visibility, the OEM noted, while rear-facing signals are mounted on either side of the center high-mounted stop lamp; providing up to 180 degrees of illumination.

Ford also said that fleets can program the flash pattern of the strobe light kit to meet specific requirements.

The OEM pointed out that the “no-drill” option for the F-150’s strobe light kit comes with a limited warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, and is not susceptible to corrosion issues that can be a result of aftermarket installation. The light kit can also be served at any Ford dealership, the company added.
