Volkswagen Ameo Compact Sedan Deliveries Begin In July
Volkswagen India had showcased its all-new compact sedan at the 2016 Auto Expo. The German-based automobile manufacturer christened the vehicle as 'Ameo'. As announced earlier by Volkswagen Group the Ameo will be introduced in India by mid-2016.
The first deliveries of VW Ameo will begin across India by July 2016. Currently, Volkswagen India is expanding the dealer network to reach a wider audience. Pre-bookings for the compact sedan are expected to commence soon within the country.
Powering the Ameo is an optional 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, initially, there will be no automatic transmission on offer. Performance figures will be similar to that on offer in the VW Polo.
In terms of design, Volkswagen will be providing their Ameo with similar design language to its Polo hatchback. The front fascia looks very similar to the Polo while the rear and side look simple and elegant. Several safety features and new equipment will be added to the Ameo.
Once launched the Volkswagen Ameo will compete with several other compact sedans in the country. Currently, the segment is being led by Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire, and Tata Zest. Stay tuned for more updates and launches from Volkswagen India.
