Andrew Tyrie MP, Chairman of the Treasury Committee, has written to Professor Alasdair Smith, Chair of the CMA’s banking investigation panel, to highlight the Committee’s concerns about the banking tax surcharge. The Committee believes the banking tax surcharge does have an impact on competition and that CMA should address the problem which favours incumbent banks over new entrants.
