Batang Gilas sweeps SEABA U-18, routs Thailand in final

The Philippine national junior basketball team went on an unbeaten run in the Southeast Asia Basketball Association (SEABA) to capture the championship title and book a slot to the FIBA Asia Under-18 Tournament in July.

Batang Gilas pulled off blowout victories one after another and capped their dominant campaign with an 86-49 thrashing of Thailand on Thursday in Medan, Indonesia.

Joshua Sinclair topscored for the Filipinos with 15 points to go with six rebounds, while John Bahio finished with a double-double of 12 markers and 13 boards.

Earlier in the elimination round, Batang Gilas routed the Thais in their campaign opener, 101-45.

The Philippine squad followed up with an 81-point blasting of Laos for their biggest win of the tournament. Gilas also took down Malaysia, Singapore, and host country Indonesia by an average of 31.3 points.
