Waiwai, a 20-year-old woman in Chengdu, recently received the most frightening gift of her life.

On the afternoon of April 28, a Waiwai's colleague signed for an express box addressed to Waiwai. When she opened the box, Waiwai was shocked to see shell casings wrapped in foam. She immediately became nervous, put the box aside and called the police.

Later, police came to the scene and examined the contents of the box. "The police said it was fine. No bullets or gunpowder were in the box. Shell casings are not a prohibited article," Waiwai said.

In fact, the gift of 100 shell casings and red ropes was arranged to look like a heart. Did it come from a secret admirer, perhaps?

A reporter from Chengdu Commercial Daily later confirmed the sender: a soldier currently serving in Yunnan province. As he can't often go outside the camp, the soldier, who is a friend of Waiwai, collected 100 shell casings and made it into a gift. Upon learning this, Waiwai smiled and said, "But it wasn't a pleasant surprise. It was a fright!"
