PU-CET exam rescheduled to June 1

Chandigarh: Panjab University has rescheduled the date of entrance test for PU-CET (UG&BHMS) Entrance Test from May 22 to June 1. The move has come as a relief for students as well as their parents, who had requested PU authorities to reschedule dates of entrance test as it was clashing with JEE (advanced) exam.
"Students should not be deprived of appearing in JEE (advanced) exam, which is at national level.
We had a meeting with the vice-chancellor and he wanted to give benefit to students. Moreover, we always take care of candidates who apply for our courses," said PU controller of examinations Parvinder Singh. Earlier, Panjab University's undergraduate common entrance test (CET) date was clashing with dates of JEE (advanced) and entrance exams of four other medical colleges, and worried parents had submitted requests to PU authorities to change date of the entrance test which was to be held on May 22.
The prospectus was made available online from March 18 and students have already started applying for the exam. The entrance test fee for general category is Rs 1,760 and for SC/ST is Rs 880. "We welcome the decison taken by PU authorities as it was a question of the future of many students, who have to appear for different entrance tests at Panjab University and other colleges including the JEE (Advabced) exam," said a parent, who had written a letter to PU requesting chnage in date of exam.
