Bhopal: Amidst water crisis across the state, Gwalior bench of high court on Wednesday directed the government to submit a plan for roof water harvesting on a number of buildings in the city including that of the court. Directives were issued after a PIL was filed by a Gwalior resident. The next hearing will be held on May 3.
Raju Sharma, counsel of the petitioner Rakhee Sharma said double bench comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Vivek Agrawal directed the public works department to submit detailed roof top water harvesting plan.
The petitioner had submitted a list of buildings which included the district court, government and private premises, multi-storeyed buildings and buildings of defence establishment in Gwalior among others where roof water harvesting can be done. Petitioner said that rainwater harvesting will help restore and recharge underground water. Urgent efforts are required to harvest water in view of ongoing water crisis across the state, the petitioner said.
