Bengaluru: A day after one of its senior managers hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his house, Canara Bank in a statement said Sudhindra Murthy committed suicide for personal reasons. Murthy worked with the bank’s JP Nagar branch. In his suicide note, he had accused seniors in the bank of harassing him over recovery of loans. The bank on Thursday said granting loans and recovering them are regular duties of a banker, and there was no pressure from seniors on him either to grant loans or recover them.

Guv issues guidelines for varsities
From now on, universities in the state must circulate a copy of the agenda with the notice of executive meeting or meetings of various authorities well in advance. According to the guidelines issued by governor Vajubhai Vala, chancellor of universities , on Thursday, the copy of the agenda must be sent to his office and to the committee members. The agenda items should not be discussed with the party concerned till the executive council/syndicate/board of management meeting is convened. The minutes must be sent to the chancellor’s office and published on the university website the next day
