Thirty candidates, including cricketer-turned-politician S. Sreesanth, filed nomination papers for the Assembly elections in the district on Thursday.
Five nominations were filed in Nedumangad, four each in the Aruvikkara and Kovalam, three in Attingal, Nemom and Parassala, two nominations each in Varkala and Thiruvananthapuram, while one each was filed in Vamanapuram, Kazhakuttam, Kattakada and Neyyattinkara.
Chandrakumaran Nair (CPI (M) dummy candidate), C. Ajikumar of the Shiv Sena, E. Sulfiquar of the PDP, Independent G. Shibu, and M.J. Bipin of the BSP filed nominations in the Nedumangad constituency.
In Aruvikkara, Independents L. Viswanathan, Ajitha and M. Abdul Saleem and Chandralekha of the BSP filed nominations. M. Vincent of the Congress, K.R. Anish of the BSP, A. Silvester of the Trinamool Congress and Independent M.C. Jayalal filed nominations in the Kovalam constituency. In Attingal, Independent R. Rajesh, Raji of the BJP and P. Pratheesh Kumar of the NCSBM filed nominations. J.V. Vikraman of the Praja Socialist Party, Independent Jain Wilson, and Hari (CPI (M) dummy) filed nominations in Nemom. In Parassala, Independent T. Mohanraj, A.T. George of the Congress and V. Selvan of the Trinamool Congress filed papers.
While Independent Bhasidharan Nair and Shajahan (CPI (M) dummy) submitted papers in Varkala, S. Sreesanth of the BJP and Independent Praveen Arimbrajodiyil filed papers in Thiruvananthapuram. E. Nizamudhin of the SDPI (Vamanapuram), G. Sadanandhan (CPI (M) dummy – Kazhakuttam), Ashroff of the SDPI (Kattakada) and Independent Y. Anil Kumar (Neyyattinkara) also filed papers.
Assets
As per the details declared by the candidates, Mr. Sreesanth has movable assets to the tune of Rs.1,87,18,212 and his wife has Rs.82,85,000. He has immovable assets to the tune of Rs.5,50,00,000. He has Rs.42,500 in hand and his wife Rs.35,000.
Mr. Vincent has Rs.1,500 in cash and his wife Rs.750. He has movable assets of Rs.1,29,292 and his wife’s assets are to the tune of Rs.2,187,18. Their immovable assets are to the tune of Rs.5,50,000 and Rs.4,50,000 respectively.
