Granada Hills Kennedy has been having sets of brothers go through its baseball program for years, from Tagliaferri to Bourne to Miranda to Rodriguez.

Now the Golden Cougars have two sets of brothers in the starting lineup this season, and they came through in a big way on Thursday to lead Kennedy to a 6-3 win over San Fernando and tie up the Valley Mission League race.

Senior twins Adrian and Luis Campos were most prominent. Adrian threw a complete game, striking out three, walking none and allowing six hits. Luis had a two-run triple in the first inning and added a double. Then there were the Olivas brothers. Jose, a junior, had an RBI double. And sophomore Andrew had a first-inning single.

Asked if he was going to buy his brother a nice dinner for collecting two hits, Adrian said, “Sleeping in my room is enough.”

Kennedy (13-8, 10-1) opened a 6-0 lead through three innings, then had to withstand a Tigers comeback led by sophomore Steven Villgran, who went three for three.

Junior shortstop Luis Gomez was impressive for Kennedy on defense, making play after play with his arm and glove.

In the Marine League, Banning went two games up on Carson with a 5-3 victory over the Colts.
