With just a day left for the closure of filing of nominations for the Assembly elections in the Union Territory, as many as 109 candidates filed their papers across the Assembly constituencies in Puducherry on Thursday.
AIADMK sitting MLAs P. Purushothaman, A. Anbalagan and Om Sakthi Sekar filed their papers seeking re-election from Manaveli, Uppalam and Nellithope Assembly constituencies respectively.
Former Minister and senior AIADMK functionary P. Kannan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and candidates of the AINRC will be filing their nominations on Friday. Scrutiny of nominations would be held on April 30. Last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 2.
