After dad’s murder & mom’s death, girl ends life
Nagpur: Twinkle Surekha was about 12 years old when her doting father Vijay was murdered at his room at Gokulpeth in June 2011. Surekha’s mother Meena was arrested, along with her accomplices, for her husband’s murder. Meena subsequently died too. Twinkle, who was the first to spot her father’s body, ended life in the early hours of Thursday at her relative’s place at Telangkhedi.
Twinkle, who was about to enter college, had been the last to meet father when he had fondly asked her to go back to her room. The girl had then recalled before TOI that how father cared for her. Vijay, suffering from a terminal illness, used to stay separately, while Meena used to stay with Twinkle and her elder sister Sheetal in an adjacent apartment which belonged to her parents. Ambazari police, which had then registered a murder case against Meena and her aides, had to strive for more than a month before managing to crack the case.
Meena was in jail for several days. She was released but died shortly as she too was infected with the ailment. It’s learnt that one of the Meena’s aides too was suffering from the disease.
Woman police sub inspector (WPSI) SV Jhamre said that Twinkle left behind a suicide note blaming none for her drastic decision. “Twinkle would go to her relative’s house regularly to spend the night. Her relative was sleeping beside her till 6am. The relative had left in the morning. After a short while, Twinkle’s elder sister had come. It was within a gap of half an hour that Twinkle ended her life,” said the WPSI. “We feel that it was the disturbed background of the family and disputes that compelled her to end life,” she said.
Ambazari police have registered a case of accidental death.
