Sam Stosur beats Czech Republic's Barbora Strycova in three sets to reach semi-finals of Prague Open
Samantha Stosur is through to the semi-finals of the Prague Open after seeing off local favourite Barbora Strycova in three sets.
The fourth-seeded Australian prevailed 6-3, 6-7 (7/3), 7-6 (7/4) against the Czech after wasting two match points at 5-4 in the final set, and another at 6-5, before prevailing in the tiebreaker.
She will now face play top-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova or Monica Puig for a place in the final.
Second-seeded Czech Lucie Safarova extended her resurgence by fighting past unseeded Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan 7-6 (7/3), 7-5.
Safarova had not won a singles match this season before claiming three in a row in Prague.
She will now face defending champion Karolina Pliskova, who cruised past Camila Giorgi of Italy 6-2, 6-1 in her quarter-final.
Top seed Tomic stunned in Istanbul
Top-seeded Australian Bernard Tomic was left waiting for his first European claycourt win of the season when he slumped to defeat to Argentina's Diego Schwartzman at the Istanbul Open on Thursday.
World number 23 Tomic lost his opener in Bucharest last week and struggled again in Turkey, losing 6-2, 6-2 to world number 87 Schwartzman in 64 minutes.
Schwartzman goes on to face Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur, who beat Illya Marchenko 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, for a place in the semi-finals.
