Milan-based accessories showroom Massimo Bonini is opening a new location in Hong Kong this week.
The showroom will carry the same brands that it sells in Milan and New York — footwear and bag collections by Alexandre Vauthier, Andrea Incontri, Bruno Bordese, Charline De Luca, Fausto Puglisi, Gedebe, Giambattista Valli, Giannico, Kallisté, Karl Lagerfeld, Kartell, Marco De Vincenzo, McQ Alexander McQueen, MSGM, No. 21, Sebastian, Versace and Versus, among others. The Hong Kong showroom will be pivotal in managing both the distribution and the communication activities across Greater China, the South Pacific countries, Korea and Japan, and will be operated by a local holding company controlled by Massimo Bonini.
“The Asian market is performing very well and our goal is to double our business in the area up to 50 million euros [or $57 million at current exchange rate] in one-year-and-a-half,” said Massimo Bonini, chief executive officer Sabrina Bonini. The company currently counts 240 clients in the Asian market. “We think that many Asian buyers will continue making their purchases in Milan and New York but with a showroom in Hong Kong we will be able to offer them a better service and also find new clients, especially in Greater China.”
Massimo Bonini opened a headquarters in New York two years ago and will unveil a new showroom on Milan’s Via Ceresio next June.
“This will be dedicated to contemporary and niche brands,” Bonini said. “We will move some of the collections currently on display in our three showrooms located on Via Montenapoleone and we will also add new labels.”
Although Massimo Bonini is mainly focused on women’s accessories, which account for 70 percent of the company’s business, the showroom is also developing its men’s offering. “We are growing also in the men’s sector, which is more difficult, has a slower growth but is very constant,” Bonini said.
