New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) Demanding that educational details about Prime Minister Narendra Modi be made public, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Central Information Commission (CIC) of atempting to hide facts about the degrees held by the Prime Minister. During the 2014 elections, Mr Modi had declared that he has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Delhi University and a Master’s degree from Gujarat University. Citing a news report in his letter to Information Commissioner M Sridhar Acharyulu, Mr Kejriwal alleged that the educational details about the PM were being concealed from the public. Referring to the Information Commission , acting on a petition that had questioned how Mr Kejriwal was allowed to change his address on his Delhi poll affidavit, having asked him (Kejriwal) why he, as a lawmaker, should not be declared a public authority whose education and assets have to be declared, Mr Kejriwal said,’’I have no objection that you want my record being made public. I have got to know that you have blocked information related to degrees of Mr Modi. The entire nation wants to know the truth. Despite that, you refused to divulge the details of his degrees. Why did you do this? This is wrong.’’. A request was rejected by Delhi University earlier this month under RTI for information on the bachelor’s degree of Mr Modi. The university had cited the reason that it does not have details like his roll number required to provide the information sought. UNI SM SB 2145
