Patidar community's religious trust, Khodaldham Trust on Thursday announced setting up of country's first private agriculture university in Gujarat.
The announcement came amid a call for a mega Patidar rally in Ahmedabad on May 1, where over one lakh Patidars are likely to join.
Dineshbhai Kumbhani, trustee of Khudaldham Trust pointed out that in spite of India being an agrarian economy, the country hasn't made adequate progress on the agricultural front and towards the welfare of the farmers.
“In order to identify the opportunities and push innovations in farm sector and to empower farmers socially and financially, Khodaldham Trust has decided to set up India's first private agriculture university," said Kumbhani.
In the backdrop of the Patidar reservation agitation, the Patidar leader maintained that the Trust would work towards mobilisation of Patidar community as well as uplifting of all the other communities.
